Back by popular demand! Again, through the good graces of Access Sacramento, "Creating Your Recipe for a Happier, Longer Life in Retirement" with COACHLYON - THE Pre-Retirement Coach aired in Sacramento. AND, again, the Entercom Group aired that terrific radio interview I did with local radio celebrity, Kat Madru. This Newsletter is so I can keep in touch with my valued clients, workshop attendees, and referral partners. As a Coach, I am primarily focused on my Client’s agenda, and I rarely share what’s going on in my life, -- and many of you have asked. So, I’ll share the highlights of what I’ve been doing since I last wrote and finally, I’m including a copy of The Retirement Assessment Survey – An Internal Audit by Nancy K. Schlossberg, EdD. From her book, “Retire Smart Retire Happy - Finding Your True Path in Life”. This can be a valuable basic tool for examining your “Retirement Readiness” Of course, I would appreciate any feedback, suggestions, and above all, referrals. Please email me at: coachlyon@coachlyon.net . Thank you so much.
Now, this is really exciting...! In the very near future, I will be re-launching an awesome DVD/CD set of my "Recipe" presentation with special bonuses. You know the old saying - "Give a man a fish - feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish - feed him for a lifetime"? Well, with that as my inspiration, the set will include a pouch of my world famous Chocolate Sauce (thus giving a 'fish'), AND the actual Recipe to make it - with my references to how those ingredients are like ingredients in a Happier, Longer - Sweet Life in Retirement (thus teaching how to 'fish'). The “Recipe” package now comes with terrific bonuses totaling close to $700 in Value. My marketing strategy for this will be mainly through Joint Ventures with groups that have email lists that reach "BabyBoomers" (now around 78 million in the U.S.) and/or their adult children (so they can better understand what their parents may be going through and help them live a Happier, Longer Life in Retirement.) The way these Joint Ventures will work is that my JV Partners will send out a pre-written "sales letter", which they have approved, to their subscribers with a link to the offering page on www.coachlyon.net where they will be able to purchase the set using a secure shoppingcart. Partners will become "affiliates" of COACHLYON via my website shopping cart. This will give them an accurate, 'real time' accounting of activity generated from responses to the email they sent to their list. I will be sharing with these Partners a substantial portion of the profits from each sale of DVD/CD set, and any subsequent sales from their subscribers. In addition to the financial benefit from the Joint Venture, Partners will be offering their subscribers unique, vital, contemporary information that could improve the lives of thousands of people! Everyone benefits -- truly a Win-Win-Win Proposition!*** If you have a substantial list, or know of someone that does, and would like to participate with me in bringing greater awareness to the "Boomers" of the challenges of "Honorable Unemployment", and how to overcome them, please contact me at 916-739-6432, or coachlyon@coachlyon.net .
As you may know, I have refined my focus, as a retired Chef, and now a Life Coach, my specialty is working with people approaching retirement. I work with them to tap into their passions and purpose to come up with a "Recipe" for their retirement that will have them leaping out of bed in the morning to get to it! With this theme in mind, I have drawn heavily from my own experiences as a Chef, as well as someone who has retired from a major long-term career. I have developed a presentation, which is both informative and entertaining "Creating Your Recipe for a Happier, Longer Life in Retirement." I come out in my Chef uniform, with my wire whisk, and I talk about Retirement as "Honorable Unemployment", many retirees go through a great deal of stress - most of which is just not being openly addressed. I relate how retirement has in it the elements of some of the most traumatic events in our culture. These include, death of a Loved One = loss of Professional/Work Identity; loss of a major relationship (e.g. Divorce) = loss of their Social Circle; major uprooting (e.g. Moving) = loss of Daily Routine, and finally, the loss of outlets for their Creative and Productive energies. All of these happen at once creating a very stressful situation, which if not sensibly handled can lead to disorientation and depression. Which in turn often lead to an unhealthy lifestyle, and an early grave! (There are some very shocking statistics to confirm this.) Then, I "Chocolate Coat" the bitter message by actually making my world renowned Chocolate Sauce, relating the individual ingredients in the sauce to "ingredients" in a "Recipe for a Happier, Longer - Sweet Life in Retirement." Finally, I treat the audience to a taste of the Chocolate Sauce with fruit and cookies.
After working with “Recipe” for a while, I have come to realize my mission is to educate the public about the potential pitfalls of Retirement. I know that simple awareness can be curative - if people know what's coming, then they can prepare for it! My "Recipe" presentation is currently in a convenient, easily digested, 45-60 minute format ideally suited for the "Lunch & Learn", aka "Brown Bagger". I even have a eight minute Demo DVD Video to give to prospects a "taste", or they can view it on my website. To further assist people in planning for a happy, healthy, long life in retirement, in addition to the “Recipe” presentation, I am offering:
Also, you can visit www.coachlyon.net where you can view the video demo of my "Recipe" presentation, read articles on retirement, and soon even purchase a full length “Recipe” presentation DVD /CD set, Audio CD’s and Cassettes, and cool "RecipeGear" with my new Chef Hat and Whisk “I’m Creating My Recipe…” logo - embroidered Chef hats, Chef’s side towels, bib aprons, polo shirts, tee shirts, etc.
Finally, on a more personal note, I continue with my 14 year old daughter, Erin’s, ‘Culinary Education’. Most recently, with minimal supervision, she made three family Favorites: Smoked Turkey Chili, Garlic Bread, and (her 1st Pie… an excellent Pumpkin Pie… and cookies from the left over crust!) We are also looking forward to participating in an annual Service Project we do with one of my brothers. We go to San Francisco and help assemble Gift Bags for 120 Homeless Veterans at 'Swords to Plowshares’, then go to lunch with the crew, and return to give the bags to the Vets. (I use my old Liquidation/Surplus contacts to get about $200 worth of things for about $20 per person.)
Well, I hope you find value in the Assessment below, and would love to hear from you soon. And by all means, please visit www.coachlyon.net !!!
